The Star Appeal

Going it alone: the race to raise £1.5 million in 2010

Our students give life and learning everything they’ve got. And we think they deserve every opportunity we can give them. We always have.

That’s why a £15.4m building programme was set in motion in 2006, to help meet the increasingly complex needs of our students.

A pledge by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to fund half the cost has, however, since been withdrawn. Despite extensive and constant lobbying by the College, no LSC or Government funding is, as yet, in sight.

So the College, encouraged by the passion and generosity of its supporters, has decided to go it alone.  Key elements of this essential development will go ahead as planned – making your support, through the Star Appeal, more vital than ever.

With your help, the Appeal is aiming to raise £1.5 million in 2010 to provide:

  • A new therapies centre with hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and sensory rooms
  • Greatly-improved creative and performing arts facilities
  • Some of the essential life-skills residential accommodation
  • A new, and significant community and work-related centre.

These state of the art facilities will make the greatest and most immediate difference to students – enabling them to overcome challenges, increase their confidence, improve their quality of life, and open so many doors for the future.

Please help. You can:

  • Support the Star Appeal by making a donation now, or
  • Take on a fundraising challenge – by yourself, with colleagues or friends, or with your school or community group.

Please contact us if you would like to help buy specific equipment or support particular projects. Alternatively, we can simply use your money where it’s needed most. Thank you.
