Senior Tutor & Student Chosen to Carry Olympic Flame

Head of Sports Department at National Star College, Julian Ralph, and performing arts student, Bradley Nash, have been chosen to carry the Olympic Flame for Great Britain.

Julian and Bradley were both selected from tens of thousands of nominations for their inspiring achievements. They will join a team of 8,000 people carrying the flame on its 8,000 mile journey across the UK before arriving at the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 27th July. Julian will be carrying the torch for 300 metres as part of its three mile leg across the city of Gloucester on Thursday 24th May, day six of its journey. The torch will begin its course at 8.15am from Gloucester Docks to The Cathedral and then Gloucester Rugby Club. The three locations are iconic symbols of the city which is one of 1,000 villages, towns and cities through which the torch will pass.

Julian Ralph, Head of Sports Department, National Star College, comments: "I was nominated by two of my colleagues and it is a massive honour. It is my chance to represent the college, the city and the county. I am pretty excited to be able to play a small part in one of the biggest sporting events in the world."

Bradley Nash will be carrying the torch in Walsall, Birmingham on Saturday 30th June as part of its route across Littleton Street East, Lichfield Street, Bridge Street, Park Street, Wolverhampton Road and Wolverhampton Road West.
