Learning for every-day life
Adults in Gloucestershire who have a disability are being invited to contact the National Star College to find out more about a range of part-time courses on offer that cover practical skills including getting healthier and fitter. During the College’s Adult and Community Learning (ACL) enrolment weeks, from 16th – 27th August, (10am – 5pm weekdays) Marie Snell from ACL will be on hand to answer any questions or to help with enrolment.
Marie Snell, Adult and Community Learning Co-ordinator at the National Star College said:
“There are very few, if any, barriers to learning at our College and we are very pleased when adults, even in their sixties and seventies come and learn computer skills with us that can improve their lives and the way that they communicate. With the computer skills learnt, some students are now able to regularly contact family members who live on the other side of the world.”
Other learning for every-day life classes include improving communication through drama, improving health with fitness and swimming classes and also music, art, pottery and digital photography.
Last year the National Star College also introduced for the first time successful “Courses to Go” in healthy living, exercise, art and digital photography. These short courses were taken out to residential homes and day centres.
For further information on the part-time Adult and Community Courses at National Star College, including courses that can be taken out to external venues, you can download the prospectus or contact Marie Snell, Adult and Community Learning Coordinator on 01242 534915 or msnell@natstar.ac.uk or visit her during enrolment weeks.
