College Creative and Performing Arts Showcase part of Cheltenham Music Festival

Wednesday 21st July at 09:00am

On Thursday 8th July the National Star College put on its annual Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Showcase and for the first year ever the annual showcase also formed part of the Cheltenham Music Festival.

Creative and Performing Arts students presented a fantastic evening of music, drama, dance and art in the grounds of the College, alongside Festival Academy musicians and conductor William Carslake.

Creative and Performing Arts students had been working hard all year on a variety of projects on the theme of ‘diversity’. Linking with community partners, Glos Dance, Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham Music Festival, freelance practitioners, secondary and primary schools, to perform dance, drama and music and create canvases, cards, jewellery, backdrops and ceramics.

The culmination of all this hard work was celebrated at the annual showcase on the 8th July and comments from the audience on the evening ranged from ‘amazing’, to ‘the best one yet’ and ‘can’t wait for next year’s’!

Paul Tarling, Area Coordinator for Creative and Performing Arts said:

“From my point of view it was a breathtaking evening of creativity with students demonstrating their creativity, commitment, professionalism and sheer joy at being part of a showcase of their talents. The event always promises so much and invariably delivers so much more. My thanks go to the student, of course, for their attitude and efforts on the night, but also to all of the people who worked tirelessly throughout the year encouraging and supporting students to plan, rehearse, create, prepare and take ownership of their work. The pride felt by all those involved on the night was palpable.”
