Chedworth Singers donation to National Star College

Friday 16th July at 11:44am

At the beginning of July five members of the Chedworth Singers presented a cheque for £1,100 to National Star College student Max Mitchell.

The money was raised by the singing group at their annual concert in Chedworth on 15th May.

Robert Watson, Chairman of The Chedworth Singers said:

“During our visit to National Star College we met students, sat in on a de-brief on a Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, viewed the facilities afforded to the students and were very impressed with displays of art and photographs recording a wide range of College activities. It was a most welcome experience to see and hear first hand that The Chedworth Singers’ chosen charity for 2010 is such a worthy cause.

“We also saw the building work that has been started and for which funds are required to provide a therapy centre, improved creative performing arts facilities, accommodation and a community work-related learning centre.”

Kate Green, Capital Appeal Director at the National Star College said:

“The donation from The Chedworth Singers will go towards helping us complete the essential parts of the Star Appeal development. I would like to say a huge thank you to the group for choosing us as their charity of the year.”

The College’s Star Appeal is aiming to raise £1.2 million in 2010 to provide:

  • A new therapies centre
  • Greatly-improved creative and performing arts facilities
  • Essential life-skills residential accommodation
  • A new and significant community and work-related learning centre
