Employer checks

The College takes seriously its responsibility and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young adults and children, and expects all staff to share this.

The College is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and it is a requirement of the college that all staff apply for Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. It is essential that this disclosure and other background checks are satisfactory before employment can be confirmed.

These disclosures will be treated confidentially and sensitively. The College adheres to the DBS Code of Practice and our policies on the Recruitment of Ex-offenders and the Secure Storage, Handling, Use, Retention of Disclosures and Disclosure Information.

All applicants are required to complete our application form and provide a full employment history. References will be sought from posts held in the last 5 years (paid or voluntary) and any previous work with vulnerable adults or children including work in care or nursing homes, hospitals and educational settings.
