For our students, this campus, its residences, and the nearby towns are ‘home’ for the duration of their stay at the National Star College.
And just like any other post-16 student moving away from home, they itch to be part of life outside College and in the wider community.
So we work closely with local groups and organisations to extend opportunities for our students – and equip them to become active and valued members of the community they live in.
In their spare time, many students use their abilities to do voluntary work or fundraising. They become part of local groups giving their time and talents for the benefit of the wider community. They offer feedback on key issues that affect them and other people with disabilities.
And they astonish and amaze audiences by partnering local artists and performing arts’ organisations to create beautiful and expressive work at local venues.
By offering their services to the community, our students enhance their own lives. If you can offer opportunities for young disabled people to become involved in community projects, please contact enquiries@natstar.ac.uk.
