SPEAK

SPEAK – getting your voice heard

Founded by students at the Star College to provide advocacy for young people with disabilities, SPEAK is now a national, and growing, organisation.

Working alongside students, staff and the Students’ Union, the SPEAK team ensures you have the opportunity to express your views and concerns. With our support you can:

  • Get your voice heard
  • Access information and services
  • Defend and promote your rights and responsibilities
  • Explore your choices and options

… and ensure that your time at College is exciting, challenging – but worry free.

Beyond campus, SPEAK also engages with businesses and community groups to promote the rights of people with disabilities, and to address topics that affect you.

The team has also set up an online community website for students to share information, advice and opinions – whether useful, or just interesting! Our aim through the website is to promote empowerment – and greater independence.

Here at the Star College we’ve linked up with specialist agencies and individuals to make sure you get the support you need to go that extra mile. Our partnerships with health services, education providers, and employers give you plenty of opportunities to experience new therapies, apply for courses, or to gain valuable hands-on work experience.
