Part Time Travel Facilitator LIFT – Learning Independence For Travel Programme
Location: West Berkshire - 20 hours per week during term time, various hours
Salary £12,000 per annum, pro rata
Fixed term until April 2013.
As a Charity for people with disabilities, National Star Foundation provides independent travel training through the provision of the LIFT (Learning Independence For Travel) Programme. LIFT provides a 1:1 Travel Trainer to enable individuals to overcome real and perceived barriers to accessing transport.
This is an exciting new role that has developed out of the need to support young people with a physical and/or learning disability with their journey to and from school on public transport. The young people have taken part in the LIFT programme and can travel independently but due to the nature of the journey, will require a Travel Facilitator to offer guidance and support on an on-going basis.
The suitable candidate will meet the student at their home and travel with them to and from school to enable them to make that journey with a degree of independence.
You will be part of a supportive and innovative travel team but will need to demonstrate confidence when working independently in the community, understanding about transport networks and experience of supporting people with a range of disabilities.
This is a very unique role and if you would like more information then please contact Coral Taylor on 01635 38513.
Closing date: 12th February 2012
